Fruit medium to large, round to round conic, green matures to a pale yellow, with an occassional light bronze blush to the sunny side. Crisp, Tender, Juicy, Quality Flavored, great keeper. Ripens September. As a late bloomer will miss most late frosts protecting blooms in the spring. The Green Chesse is a southern classic apple dating back to the 1700’s and is believed to have originated in North Carolina or Georgia but its origins are unclear. The Green Cheese is thought to appeared with the Cannon Pearmain on October 6, 1804 where Samuel Bailey also listed the Winter Cheese (an old synonym for Green Cheese) as part of his nursery stock in the Virginia Argus newspaper.
