Fruit small to medium size, roundish slightly conical, pale yellow skin washed in dark red with small dark lenticels. Tender, Juicy, Brisk, Sub-Acid Flavor, Short Keeper about 3-4 weeks. Another late bloomer which protects blooms in the spring. Fruit ripen staggered over a few weeks. Tree will produce two crops in a season some years. Best known as a early pie quality apple. Origins are in North Carolina best described in 1848, however nurseries had listed it under various known synonyms in earlier published newspapers. Ripe June-July
