American Summer Pearmain Apple was first documented in 1817, this Southern heritage apple won over experts with its exceptional, aromatic flavor. The greenish-yellow, red-striped fruit ripens gradually over a month between July and August, making it a backyard favorite for fresh eating. It also makes for a great drying apple. While the tree may require some supervision against fireblight and timely harvesting to preserve its crisp, mildly subacid flesh, the reward is a bountiful crop of medium-to-large, oblong fruit well worth the effort.
